  • Why choose MyKitchen?
Building your new kitchen is one of the most important home projects you'll ever undertake, we know that. We also understand that you'll be spending a lot of time in your kitchen so you want for everything to be just perfect.

You want to be sure you have a kitchen layout that makes the best use of every square centimeter that you have. You want to feel sure you have considered all the latest materials, lighting, cabinetry, worktops and all the appliance options.

You want to be sure you have considered all the possible layout options and have chosen the best for your budget; designed for the way you like to live.

You also want a 'designer kitchen' that is superb value for money that is impeccably manufactured with a comprehensive warrantee.

When you choose MyKitchen you can be completely confident that everything has been considered with the surety of our CKDNZ certified kitchen designer.

  • How does MyKitchen work?
Whether your kitchen is a renovation, an update or in a new home, the best place for you to tell us about your dream kitchen is actually ON SITE in the space that your new kitchen will be.

That's why our kitchen designer comes to you with the mobile design studio.

She will discuss at length every detail surrounding your ideas and budget for your new kitchen. You may have lots of your own ideas or you may not know where to start. You might be ready to knock out walls or just beginning planning the project - whatever stage you are at you receive an extensive consultation where all possibilities and options are discussed and considered.

The consultation is extremely practical as the mobile studio incorporates a complete kitchen with a huge range of samples right there for you to see and feel. (eg. cabinet finishes, bench tops, handles, sinks, splash backs, taps.) The studio also has an extensive library of product catalogues for easy reference to the latest in kitchen trends and products.

  • 3- 4 Hours later...
Your kitchen designer then spends around 1 ½ hours devoted to designing your new kitchen, there and then, in the mobile design studio.

You will be presented with professionally drawn concept plans and design recommendations for your new kitchen. The plans come complete with a 3-dimensional illustration, the concept for the floor plan and illustrations that show all elevations of your new kitchen.

You will also be presented with a no-obligation quotation for the entire kitchen to be built and installed, which is based on the costings provided to us on-line directly from one of our carefully selected cabinet makers.

We can also include cost estimates and options for appliances, sub-trades (electrical / plumbing) which we can arrange for you.

You then own the plans and they are yours to keep.

  • How much do Mykitchen 'Designer Kitchen' plans cost?
The total investment for the on-site consultation and design development is $295 (including GST).

We will fully refund your $295 investment if you select Mykitchen to arrange the building and installation of your new kitchen. We can do this because our cabinet makers will pay us a fee in recognition of your business.

You can't get any fairer than that!

  • What is the warranty period?
All Mykitchen kitchens carry a 5 year warranty on cabinetry and labour by the manufacturer. All accessories, drawer runners and hinges carry a lifetime guarantee by the relevant suppliers! Most sinks have a 25 year warranty! You can't go wrong here!

  • What if I already know exactly what I want?
We know that you will want to be really sure you have considered everything and you are fully up to date with the options available to you.

Have you ever given an architect a full brief about your new house only for them to come back with ideas you'd never previously considered?

It's the same when you employ a professional kitchen designer. We stretch your imagination and make your dreams a reality.

By the way, architects are great at designing houses but usually they indicate only the position of the kitchen, leaving the detail to the professional kitchen designers like Mykitchen.

  • What if I want to use my own Cabinet Maker?
      That's absolutely up to you.

If you want us to develop the conceptual drawings into provision of detailed working drawings the investment is usually between $600 and $900, depending on the complexity of the project.

We do not charge for the working drawings that you will require if you choose Mykitchen to build and install the kitchen for you.

  • How long has Mykitchen been operating?
MyKitchen was established in 2005 to meet demand for on-site design and superb customer service.

MyKitchen's priority is to ensure convenience and ease so that all clients enjoy the new kitchen experience.

Our senior designer Marianne has 11 years of extensive kitchen, bathroom & interior design experience and is a successful and respected member of the NKBA.

  • Who are the NKBA and should this influence my decision?
MyKitchen is a proud member of the New Zealand .
      (National Kitchen and Bathroom Association).

This organisation is the only Trade association in NZ that is dedicated exclusively to the kitchen and bathroom industry - the NKBA is the leading source of information and education for members, professionals and consumers alike.

Always insist your kitchen is designed and manufactured by an NKBA member.

  • How much does a new kitchen cost?
Good question and one that everyone asks…so let's say from $8,000 to $80,000.

There are so many factors that contribute to the final cost of a new kitchen. Factors such as the size of your kitchen, the finish on the cupboards, the number of cupboards and drawers, fittings, bench top, splash back and appliances.

The MyKitchen designer will discuss the various options with you to ensure you receive the best choices to suit your budget.

Our unique service allows us to select goods from various manufacturers depending on your budget.

We will never compromise on quality. We are proud of our reputation for providing superb quality.

  • Can you help us with the appliances?
Yes. Please take advantage of our up- to-the-minute knowledge of what is available.

We will always present our unbiased recommendations or just let us know what you expect from your appliance.

We can also offer you great price advantage with package deals from reputable appliance dealers.

  • What is the best bench top material?
This depends on what you are after. The best look? The best feel? The best resistance to wear and tear? The best value for money? It is all a personal choice!
      • • A Stainless Steel bench top will last a lifetime if cared for properly.
      • • You'll never tire of your granite top. The natural shading and crystals will keep it interesting, especially with changing light conditions
      • • Engineered stones have consistent patterns or none at all. They are hard wearing just like Granites. Some of them weigh less as they may be mounted on a timber substrate.
      • • The nonporous Acrylic surfaces are trouble free and renewable. Invisible joins are possible and the product can be formed to shape.
      • • Solid timber bench tops are an investment in a warm, natural choice. Only the best manufacturing will ensure a lasting result.
      • • High Pressure Laminates are resistant to reasonable wear but have their place. With regular care and attention, they will last for many years.
We can offer all the options and there's bound to be one that's just right for you!

  • What's the best finish; laminates or laquer?
Low pressure Melamine offers a tough, scratch resistant surface. They come in a variety of finishes and stunning colours and textures. The important factor is the correct manufacturing. We use 2mm edge tapes for durability and almost invisible joins.

Lacquer cabinetry is very hard wearing when manufactured correctly. Proper application of under coats and top coats ensures a lasting kitchen. The manufacturing is labour intensive, with the final quality dependent on the skills of the craftsman. MyKitchen has strong long-term relationships with superior cabinet makers that we recommend to you.

The colour selection is only limited by your imagination!

  • Why is space optimisation important?
Even if you had an unlimited budget, the space allocated for each room is limited even when building from scratch.

MyKitchen designs always focus on making the most of the available space without compromising on aesthetics and practicality.

Our attention to detail ensures that every possible avenue has been explored. This can only be done by seeing your home - and one main reason why we come to you!

We discuss different options and offer suggestions that will help you understand your space and its scope and limitations.

Your consultation with our kitchen designer may include considerations such as: Can we remove a wall? Is there enough natural light? Are there too many windows which limit the available wall space? Is the corridor to the back door ever used? Can we incorporate a space belonging to an adjacent room? We want to see your home to be able to make the most of your project and investment - this is our specialty.

  • Am I restricted by the existing space?
Not necessarily as we do not limit ourselves to the existing allocated area…we literally think outside the square. In fact over 50% of our projects involve things like removing a wall, breaking into the next room, fitting a new window and design details that make all the difference, e.g. adding French doors. This is where our project management service offers real value…read on.

  • So you can manage the project from start to finish?
Purchasing a new kitchen should be an enjoyable and exciting experience, but having to deal with various tradesmen can create unnecessary stress for you and cause time delays.

MyKitchen can organise and co-ordinate all the necessary trades, including the builder, electrician and plumber. We know who's good out there and as we give these people repeat business, they never let us down. To you, this means you get your new Kitchen installed with no fuss and it's operational in the shortest possible time …with only one point of contact…us!

  • What if I want to change something along the way?
Once you have had more time to look at the plan, you may wish to make some alterations. We are happy to make these changes for you and if they are of a minor nature there are usually no costs involved. However once manufacturing begins, any changes may be costly. This is why we spend so much time with you to ensure we get it right first time.

  • We're thinking of selling because we don't like our kitchen?
You may be surprised to hear how many people have told us that they love their present home, its location and proximity to friends and schools…but they hate the kitchen (and/or bathrooms).
Think of it this way…a new kitchen can cost less than the real estate fees alone, and throw in the advertising costs and you've got yourself a new bathroom as well (not to mention those invasive open homes).
Why not ask us to see what we can come up with for your existing home? You may save yourself the time, money and hassles of shifting.

  • So you also design Bathrooms?
We sure do. Our senior designer Marianne also hold the CBDNZ qualification - which is the highest qualification available in NZ, Designs for bathrooms require a different level of consultation and design input so the investment varies. Please contact us for more details. Space optimisation becomes an important part of our "think outside the square" approach. Our knowledge of materials, building construction and possible options will ensure the optimal solution for your ensuite or bathroom.

  • What else can you offer?
Our designer has many years of experience in interior decoration and space planning. Colour consultation and co-ordination is needed in every project. We can also help with window treatments, lighting suggestions, flooring, tiling - we are always willing to give suggestions and help when needed.

  • What regions does your service cover?
We are an Auckland-wide service, however depending on the project we could be tempted to branch further afield. Just call us on 0800 MyKitchen and let's chat about it.

  • Are there any future plans to cover areas outside of Auckland?
Oh yes….after all, why should only Aucklanders benefit from this service? In fact we welcome enquires from suitably qualified Kitchen Designers anywhere throughout New Zealand who think the successful MyKitchen concept might work in their location . If you are as passionate and dedicated about Kitchens as we are, call us or email your details to info@mykitchen.co.nz
Thanks once again for considering MyKitchen. How can we help you?
